From the birth of aviation, through two world wars, to the breaking of the sound barrier and on into space…The history of the United States Air Force has been a sweeping saga of challenges met.

More than 50 years have passed since 1947 and the official founding of the Air Force as a separate military service. In celebration Nellis Air Force Base would host the Golden Tattoo Air Show. It was a week long tribute to the men and machines that built the greatest Air Force the world has ever known.
