When Mankind launched the first early satellites into low earth orbit, scientists were overwhelmed by the potential of what these artificial moons could teach us. The advantage we gained by seeing pictures of an approaching hurricane was so far beyond the early experiences of man to predict and cope with his environment, that it changed the way we live our lives.

Today, weather and communications satellites are taken for granted as standard equipment. Spectral analysis of our environment shows us growing deserts, shrinking rain forests and alerts us to just how fragile the balance of life is on our blue planet.
