Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum
The guns are silent now… the engines idle… the flight deck clam… the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid rests at anchor. The peaceful setting gives no hint of the courage… the pain… and the ordeals this ship has known. During WWII the USS Intrepid survived seven bomb attacks, five kamikaze strikes & one torpedo hit: yet, this valiant ship continually returned to action, earning her the reputation among the enemy as “The Ghost Ship.”
Today the Intrepid is a museum and a monument to the men that served aboard this ship, but it is also a monument to our modern military. Join us as we explore state of the art aircraft side-by-side with the planes that helped end WWII.
